Passive voice

(Kalimat pasif)

Kalimat pasif ialah kalimat yang obyeknya dikenai pekerjaan.

Kalimat pasif dibuat dengan pola:

S + to be + V.3

(Be:is, am, are, was, were + Verb 3/past participle)

Example:

Active : He breaks the window. (Dia memecahkan jendela)

Pasif : The window is broken by him. (Jendela dipecahkan olehnya)

Rumus passive voice

Untuk membentuk kalimat pasif, kita harus menyesuaikan tenses nya. Berikut rumusnya sesuai tenses:

1. Simple present tense

Rumus passive voice 

S + to be (is, am, are) + V.3

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif : My mother tells a story
• Pasif: A story is told by my mother

• Aktif : The students ask any question
• Pasif : Any question are asked by the students

• Aktif : Your friend brings a bag every day
• Pasif : A bag is brought by your friend every day

2. Present continous tense

Rumus passive voice

S + to be (is, am, are + being + V.3

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif: His father is repairing the house
• Pasif : The house is being repaired by his father (Him)

• Aktif : They are doing exercise
• Pasif : Exercise are being done by them

• Aktif : We are sweeping class now
• Pasif : Class is being swept by us now

3. Present perfect tense

Rumus passive voice

S + have/has + been + V.3

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif: My friend has done homework in the class
• Pasif : Homework has been done by my friend in the class

• Aktif: I have written the letter
• Pasif: The letter has been written by me

• Aktif: Your mother has bought some apples 
• Pasif: some apples have been bought by her

4. Simple past tense

Rumus passive voice

S + to be (was, were) + V.3)

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif: She sent a letter yesterday
• Pasif: A letter was sent by her yesterday

• Aktif: Your father helped me at home yesterday
• Pasif: I was helped by your father (Him) at home yesterday

• Aktif: I met my friend in the park
• Pasif: my friend were met by me in the park

5. Past continuous tense

Rumus passive voice

S + to be (was, were) being + V.3

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif: Students were speaking English
• Pasif: English was being spoken by students

• Aktif: The children were playing kites when it began to rain
• Pasif: kites were being played by the children when it began to rain

• Aktif: nathan was driving a car when i saw him
• Pasif: A car were being driven by nathan when i saw him

6. Past perfect tense

Rumus passive voice

S + Had + been + V.3

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif: The government had built a dam
• Pasif: A dam had been built by th government

• Aktif : My mother had cooked at home yesterday
• Pasif : Rice had been cooked by my mother at home yesterday

• Aktif : Mr. Nathan had visited Bali last year
• Pasif : Bali had been visited by Mr. Nathan last year

7. Future tense
Rumus passive voice

S+ shall/will + be + V.3

Contoh kalimat :

• Aktif: He will buy some books
• Pasif: Some books will be bought by him

• Aktif: she will teach us English
• Pasif : We will be taught English by her

• Aktif: Your father will be visit my father
• Pasif : My father will be visited by your father
